International Yoga Day 2024: A Beginner's Guide to 5 Easy Asanas
Jun 21, 2024

Every year on June 21, International Yoga Day is celebrated to raise awareness of the value of yoga. It's not necessary to be an exercise aficionado to reap the health advantages of yoga. It creates a bridge between the mind, body, and soul so that we may turn off the chaos of the outside world and concentrate on our inner well-being. It's also known that yoga lessens negativity. International Yoga Day's topic this year is "Yoga for Self and Society." Look no further if you've never done yoga before but still want to incorporate this exercise regimen into your life. Here are five easy yoga poses that even novices can try.
Mountain pose
You must stand straight with your feet together and your arms relaxed by your sides in order to complete this asana. Stretch your tailbone toward the floor, engage your quadriceps, and apply equal pressure with your feet. To make your chest appear larger, roll your shoulders down and back. To keep your focus, keep your chin parallel to the floor and look directly ahead at any stationary object.
Warrior pose
Breathe deeply and maintain the stance for a bit. Begin by taking a position. Then, step one foot back while maintaining a 90-degree bend in the front knee and matching it to the ankle. Straighten the rear leg and plant the foot's outside edge on the mat. Raise your arms over your head.
Triangle pose
Keeping the front foot pointed forward, step one foot back and slightly outward to complete the position. Bend at the hips, reach forward with the hand in front, and extend the arms parallel to the floor. Raising the opposite arm vertically, lower the hand to the shin, ankle, or floor. Gaze up at the raised hand while maintaining an open chest. On the other side, repeat. Starting from the bottom, place your wrists under your shoulders and your knees under your hips.
Downward-facing dog
Straighten your arms and legs as you elevate your hips toward the ceiling and firmly press into your hands. Now, hold your head between your arms, keep your spine extended, and let your heels touch the floor. Activate your core and breathe deeply. Hold the pose for several breaths.
Staff pose
Stretching your legs out in front of you while keeping them close together, take a seat on the floor. With your fingers pointing forward, place your hands on the floor next to your hips. Lift your spine and place your palms on the floor while maintaining a comfortable stance. Stretch through your head's crown and pull your shoulder blades back softly. Retain your knees and thighs pressed down. Hold the pose for a few breaths, paying attention to your breathing and keeping the alignment.
International Yoga Day 2024 has "Yoga for Self and Society" as its subject. Around the world, a variety of activities and gatherings will be held to honor the day.
